Russia and India are going to hold
largest ever anti terrorist war games in mid October using airborne
commandos and ground forces, India’s Defense Ministry was quoted by Daily
Times as saying.
The exercises will be held in the Thar Desert bordering Pakistan and last for
a week. The ministry said the war games would “seek to strike interoperability
between land forces for possible future operations under international
peacekeeping banners in third countries.”
It will include blitzkrieg style anti terrorist commando operations with the
use of aircraft and helicopters and involve approximately 800
servicemen commandos and special troops’ members from each side.
Indian defense officials say Moscow is New Delhi’s closest military ally and
accounts for more than 70 percent of India’s military hardware.
The announcement of future war games came shortly after Russia and China
finished an unprecedented joint military drill.
